Refrain from sniffing during and after administration due to potential decrease in the absorption of neffy. Monitor to assess if a second dose is needed. If symptoms get worse or reoccur after 5 minutes, use a new neffy nasal spray device to give a SECOND dose in the same nostril.1

What patients need to know before and after administration*

Preparing for administration of neffy1:

  • Each single-use neffydevice delivers either 1 mg or 2 mg, depending on patient weight: 1 mg for patients 15 to <30 kg and 2 mg for those ≥30 kg
  • Patients should not prime (pre-spray) the device
  • neffy can be administered while the patient is in any position (eg, supine, semi-supine, standing, or sitting)5

Following administration of neffy1:

  • Patients should refrain from sniffing
  • If a second dose of neffy is needed, administer a new neffy nasal spray into the same nostril starting 5 minutes after the first dose
  • If more than 2 sequential doses are required, additional doses should be administered under direct medical supervision

Intuitive Design

neffy is designed to be easy to use and carry for patients, caregivers, or anyone responsible for someone with a history of type I allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.1,2,6

Flexible Storage Conditions

neffy can be accidentally exposed to temperatures up to 122°F (50°C). Simply store neffy at room temperature, between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C).1

Do not freeze neffy. neffy freezes below 5°F (-15°C). If neffy is accidentally frozen, the device will not spray; however, neffy can be thawed at room temperature for 20 minutes without damage to the device or the epinephrine.1

Extended Shelf Life

neffy lasts longer than epinephrine needle-injectors, with an expiration date up to 2.5 years after its manufacture date, depending on the dose.7-9

In the absence of clinical improvement or if symptoms worsen after initial treatment, administer a second dose of neffy in the same nostril with a new nasal spray starting 5 minutes after the first dose.

INDICATION

neffy is indicated for emergency treatment of type I allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, in adult and pediatric patients who weigh 15 kg or greater.

neffy is for use in the nose only.

Advise patients when to seek emergency medical assistance for close monitoring of the anaphylactic episode and in the event further treatment is required.

Absorption of neffy may be affected by underlying structural or anatomical nasal conditions.

Administer with caution to patients who have heart disease; epinephrine may aggravate angina pectoris or produce ventricular arrhythmias. Arrhythmias, including fatal ventricular fibrillation, have been reported, particularly in patients with underlying cardiac disease or taking cardiac glycosides, diuretics, or anti-arrhythmics.

The presence of a sulfite in neffy should not deter use.

neffy may alter nasal mucosa for up to 2 weeks after administration and increase systemic absorption of nasal products, including neffy.

Patients with certain medical conditions or who take certain medications for allergies, depression, thyroid disorders, diabetes, and hypertension, may be at greater risk for adverse reactions.

Epinephrine can temporarily exacerbate the underlying condition or increase symptoms in patients with the following: hyperthyroidism, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, renal impairment. Epinephrine should be administered with caution in patients with these conditions, including elderly patients and pregnant women.

Most common adverse reactions are nasal discomfort, headache, rhinorrhea, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, throat irritation, nasal congestion, paresthesia, sneezing, upper respiratory tract congestion, epistaxis, rhinalgia, nasal dryness, dry throat, fatigue, and feeling jittery.
